Introducing Arkhai

Customs formed from millennia of human commerce are being overturned. Rules rewritten and intuitions discarded, we are hurdling into a revolution in economics, charting a new era of digital markets driven by cybernetic agents.

We will have trouble understanding these agents. They will create synthetic assets alien to our experiences, negotiate at superhuman speeds, and cooperate and compete to form an emergent superintelligence. Orchestration of compute, storage, bandwidth, information, energy, and capital will be driven to the limits of physics, leading to an unprecedented pace of scientific breakthroughs.

Arkhai revolutionizes what lies at the core of this transformation: markets. The markets of yesteryear will not suffice in this new epoch of economics. Our modular marketplace primitives solve this problem by enabling the construction of a wide array of marketplaces from basic building blocks.

Our name, Arkhai, comes from the Greek for 'first principles': the fundamental elements that ancient Greek philosophers sought as the basis of all reality. We chose this name because we're providing the elemental components that compose into complex market structures, not prescribing the structures themselves. We enable agents to negotiate bespoke contracts with each other on the fly. They don't just execute pre-defined templates - they can actively negotiate terms, set custom conditions, and create unique agreements for each transaction.

While economists and game theorists cast shadows of "utility-maximizing" agents for their audiences, they themselves did not even understand the figures they held in their hand. Since the advent of game theory in the early 20th century, we have since developed algorithms which can indeed approximate ideal behaviour in strategic environments (with all the necessary caveats). We are building the agents long dreamt of; where before we only saw shadows, we now see glimpses of light.
